1. What are some of the previous research projects you have done?
I have done a couple of lengthy research projects, including making biographies or researching about an event.
In my 6th grade Social Studies class, we had to make a poster and essay about a famous person in the 1800s
and 1900s. Also in 6th grade, we did an I-Search with our English class about a contorversial issue, like
animal testing. I have also done research on the history of Louisiana and the history of Native Americans in
the US.
2. Based on these projects, what does research mean to you?
Research means using sources available to you to find more information about a topic.
3. Describe one of your research successes or failures. Why was the experience positive or negative?
One of our Indian research projects was very difficult because the group I was assigned was hard to work with
and wouldn't take any responsibilities, so I ended up doing most of it. It taught me a lesson about how to work
better in a group, but besides that, it was a fiasco.

1. I think the webbing process helped/did not help me find a topic because:
I don't think it helped me a lot, because my mind is pretty much already made up about what topic I'm doing, and I don't really enjoy the Inspiration program, so I guess it's just my personal preference. Teacher Response 3-16-07

1. Topic: Renaissance
2. Why you chose it: I never knew why it was such a big deal, or how it was interesting or important, so I really wanted to learn more about it because I love connecting different things from life in the past to life in the present-day.
3. What you already know about your topic: I know that it was an art revolution when suddenly all kinds of people made developements and became interested in the arts (there's more to it than that, but that's all I know) Teacher Response 3-16-07

1. Brainstorm a list of questions related to your topic. How does Renaissance affect society?
Why was it so important?
How did the world react to it?
What kind of important events did it include?
Over what time period did it stretch across?
Who are the famous figures of this time period?
Which countries were most involved?
How did it begin?
Why did it begin?
How did end?
What does Florence have to do with the Renaissance?
What is Reformation?
Was technology affected by the Renaissance?
How were people's ideas and minds affected? Teacher Response 3-21-07

1. Describe how the pre-notetaking sheet helped you find both focus for your topic and research questions to investigate. Did you find it easy or difficult to create a fat question from your ideas?
It helpd me a lot because it made it clear to me what kind of information I needed to be looking for while I researched. The questions pretty much came to me, because I really did have a lot of question that I want answered; also, the fat question was easy to pick out, because it stood out from the rest of the questions. 1. What have I learned today?
I mainly learned about what the Renaissance was and overall, how it affected different things in everyday life. For instance, I learned that the Renaissance was like a new beginning for people, including new ways of thinking, new art, new technology, etc. I also learned how all of these changes were connected.
2. What problems have I had?
I'm having a little bit of a problem defining specifics; I keep on getting this overview, and it's so much information that all of it is a little overwhelming and I don't know where to start.
3. How will I overcome the problem(s)?
I think I need to narrow it down, picking a few main topics and working from there.
4. What will I do next?
I really want to find out more information about specific recognizable famous people in the period and different acknowledgable events. Teacher Response 3-21-07

Narrowing it down to people who had an impact and events may be a good way to go. You could also concentrate on how different areas changed and made an impact - art, technology, religion, etc. Entry 7 - 3/21/07
1. What have I learned today?
I've learned about Florence and it's role in affecting the course of the Renaissance.
2. What problems have I had?
Citing books are a lot harder than citing websites.
3. How will I overcome the problem(s)?
I'm just going to have to become more organized with my sources of research and get better at NoodleBib.
4. What will I do next?
I'm going to try to get all of my required sources down, and get some more information on the overall effect of the Renaissance. Teacher Response 3-23-07

1. What have I learned today?
I've learned today about who initially began the Renaissance and how the concept of recreation affected the different types of art.
2. What problems have I had?
I've really got to get better at finding more information, because I've become a little lazy and unfocused and it's becoming harder to pick out specific facts from different articles.
3. How will I overcome the problem(s)?
I just need to focus more and improve my searches and organization.
4. What will I do next?
I'm going to try to regroup and make sure that I have all of the necessary requirments and the answers for my skinny questions. Teacher Response 3-23-07
